Golden Rule Services, Inc. (GRSI) is a nonprofit, charitable organization founded in 1995 by Danny and Barbara Armond to provide comprehensive community-based services to persons with disabilities in the Greater Houston area, including the surrounding counties.
The Focus of GRSI The difference and uniqueness in the approach of GRSI is that instead of focusing on the deficits or ‘disabilities’ of an individual, we focus on the potential and abilities; instead of dwelling on past failures, we focus on future successes. Emphasis is placed on a person’s capabilities rather than his/her limitations.
The Philosophy and Mission Statement of GRSI “To treat people as we would like to be treated” is the philosophy and mission statement of GRSI. Individuals are treated with care and compassion – not pity. They are seen as people who want no less dignity, respect, or quality of life than we ourselves desire and in most cases, are able to have with very little effort. Our task is one of discovery: our discovery of what a person values and what things are hassles to him; his discovery will be of available desired choices. We strive to listen to each individual and let him create his own place based on his dreams, desires and needs.
Services Provided by GRSI GRSI provides the following services: case management, nursing, residential, including group home and foster care, community activities, transportation, day program, in-home support, supported employment, counseling and therapies, respite, minor home modifications, adaptive aids and dental services. |
